Shape is a marketplace and a community — real coaches, real clients, a social feed, messaging, and rewards, all in one place. That only works if everyone can trust it. This Code of Conduct is the short version of how we expect people to treat each other and the platform.
This Code forms part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone on Shape. It is not legal advice.
Who this applies to
This Code applies to everyone on Shape — clients, trainers, nutritionists, and anyone else who creates an account or uses the platform. It covers everything you do here: the social feed, messaging, profiles and bios, coaching, the marketplace, reviews, Shape Score, comments on the track playing on Shape Radio, and any other Shape feature.
Two of those are worth naming, because people assume otherwise. Radio comments are public — anyone can read them, signed in or not — so they are held to exactly the same standard as a post in the feed and are moderated the same way. And direct messages are not exempt: we don't read your DMs, but if someone reports one, this Code applies to what was sent.
It works with the Terms, not instead of them. This Code is part of, and is incorporated into, our Terms of Service — including the conduct rules in Section 5 and the grounds for account removal in Section 12. The Privacy Policy governs how we handle data. If you've agreed to the Terms, you've agreed to this Code; where this Code and the Terms overlap, read them together. Breaking this Code is a breach of the Terms and can lead to the actions described in Section 7.
Community standards for everyone
The baseline is simple: treat people the way you'd want to be treated, and don't make Shape unsafe or dishonest for anyone else. Whoever you are, you agree to:
- Be respectful. No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, stalking, hate speech, or content that demeans people based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or body. No unwelcome sexual advances, sexual content directed at someone who hasn't asked for it, or sexual content involving minors — ever.
- Be honest. Don't lie about who you are, your qualifications, or your results. No fake reviews, fabricated credentials, manipulated before/afters, scams, or gaming Shape Score and rewards.
- Respect other people's privacy. Don't share someone else's private information, photos, health details, or messages without their consent, and don't post or threaten to post them ("doxxing").
- Don't spam or poach. No mass-unsolicited messaging, repetitive promotional posts, or off-platform solicitation that pulls people away from Shape to dodge the platform fee.
- Keep it legal and safe. No promotion or sale of controlled substances, prescription medications, or banned performance-enhancing drugs; no dangerous "advice" (extreme fasting, disordered-eating content, unsafe drug or supplement protocols); no illegal content of any kind.
- Be authentically you. One real identity per person. Don't impersonate another person, coach, business, or Shape itself, and don't misrepresent your affiliation.
- Protect the platform. No malware, hacking, scraping, reverse-engineering, or trying to access accounts, data, or systems you're not authorized to reach.
Coaches — professional conduct
Coaches — trainers and nutritionists — are held to a higher bar, because clients trust you with their health, their money, and their data. In addition to everything in Section 2, you agree to:
- Be truthful about your credentials. Only claim licenses and certifications you actually hold and keep current. If you carry a Verified badge, your verified information must stay accurate — don't misrepresent what the badge means or display it deceptively.
- Stay in your scope. Practice only within what your credential and license allow, in the places they allow it. Don't diagnose, treat, or prescribe outside your scope; refer clients to a qualified professional when something is beyond you.
- Put client safety and boundaries first. Program responsibly for the person in front of you — their injuries, conditions, and readiness. Keep relationships professional: no exploiting the coach–client dynamic, no romantic or sexual advances toward clients, no pressure.
- Deliver what you sell. Provide the programs, plans, sessions, and communication you advertised, on time. No ghosting, chronic no-shows, or taking payment for work you don't deliver.
- Don't solicit off-platform to dodge the fee. Don't push clients you met or serve through Shape to pay you off-platform while still using Shape's tools, messaging, or data to coach them.
- Protect client data. Health and screening information is confidential. Use client data only to provide your services, keep it secure, retain it no longer than needed, follow the privacy laws that apply to your practice, and honor clients' privacy requests. Never sell, publish, or repurpose it. See Terms Section 4 and the Privacy Policy.
- No medical claims. Don't promise cures, diagnose conditions, or claim to treat disease. Be clear that coaching is not medical care, and don't undercut a client's relationship with their physician or other licensed providers.
Clients — conduct
Coaching is a two-way relationship. In addition to everything in Section 2, clients agree to:
- Give honest health information. Share accurate details in screenings and check-ins (injuries, conditions, medications, and similar). Your coach uses it to keep you safe — leaving things out or misrepresenting them puts you at risk.
- Treat coaches with respect. Coaches are independent professionals and people. No abuse, harassment, threats, or unwelcome advances. Disagreements are fine; how you handle them matters.
- Don't commit payment fraud. No stolen cards, no chargeback abuse on services you received, and no schemes to dodge what you owe. If something went wrong, raise it with the coach or with us first.
- Follow safety guidance. Listen to your body, follow the safety instructions in your programs, and stop if something hurts. Get clearance from a physician before starting where that's recommended, and don't push a coach to program something unsafe.
Safety
Shape is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, having a medical emergency, or at risk of self-harm, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line right away. Don't rely on Shape, a coach, or a message to reach someone in time.
No dangerous or illegal advice. Nobody — coach or client — may give or seek guidance that's likely to cause serious harm: unsafe drug, supplement, or PED protocols; extreme or disordered-eating practices; or anything illegal. Coaching on Shape is educational and not a substitute for medical, psychological, or other licensed care. See the medical and fitness disclaimers in Terms Section 8.
Shape is 18+. The platform is for adults only. You must be at least 18 to have an account. We'll close any account we learn belongs to someone under 18.
Child sexual abuse material — zero tolerance and a legal reporting duty. Content that sexually exploits or endangers a minor is the most serious violation on this platform. If we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on Shape, we will remove it, terminate the account immediately and permanently, preserve the associated content and account records as the law requires, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by US federal law (18 U.S.C. §2258A), which may forward the report to law enforcement in your country. Where other laws in your jurisdiction require reporting to a national authority, we will comply with those too. This is a legal obligation, not a discretionary enforcement decision: there is no warning, no appeal on the merits of removal, and we will cooperate with law enforcement. To report suspected CSAM, email safety@theshapecommunity.com immediately, and contact your local authorities.
Reporting & moderation
How to report. If you see something that breaks this Code, email safety@theshapecommunity.com with what happened, who's involved, and any screenshots, links, or context. The more specific you are, the faster we can act. In an emergency, contact local authorities first, then tell us. We are building a report control directly into the app and this page will name it once it ships; until then, email is the way to reach us.
How we review. Our team reviews reports against this Code and the Terms. We look at the evidence and context, weigh how serious and how repeated the behavior is, and aim to be fair and proportionate — most issues are a misunderstanding or a first mistake, not bad faith. We may contact the people involved, ask for more information, and take temporary protective steps (such as limiting a feature) while we look into a serious report. Shape makes the final call on enforcement.
Possible outcomes. Depending on what we find, a review can end with no action, a private warning or request to fix something, content removal, limits on specific features, suspension, or permanent removal. We'll also act on a valid legal order or law-enforcement request. The tiers are described next.
Enforcement & ban tiers
We try to match the response to the conduct. Most violations follow a graduated path; the most serious ones don't.
- Warning. For most first-time or minor issues — a private notice explaining what crossed the line and a chance to fix it or take it down.
- Temporary suspension. For repeat issues, ignored warnings, or more serious conduct — features or the account are paused for a period while the matter is resolved.
- Permanent removal. For severe or repeated violations — the account is removed for good.
Immediate removal — zero tolerance. Some conduct skips the ladder and can result in immediate suspension or permanent removal without prior warning and without refund: threats or violence; harassment, stalking, or hate speech; sexual misconduct or any content involving minors; fraud or payment abuse; illegal activity, including controlled substances or PEDs; credential fraud or practicing out of scope; endangering another person's safety; or serious security abuse. These mirror the grounds for removal in Terms Section 12.
No ban evasion. If your account is removed, you may not create a new one or use someone else's to get back on Shape. We treat circumventing a ban — new accounts, fake identities, or working around a restriction — as its own violation that can be acted on immediately.
Appeals. If you believe we got it wrong, email safety@theshapecommunity.com within 30 days of the action and we'll review it. Tell us what happened and include anything we should see. This is the same appeal route described in Terms Section 12.
A living document
This Code will change as Shape and its community grow. We may update it from time to time; the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced as described in our Terms. Updating this Code does not make it optional. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service, and breaching it is grounds for the enforcement described in Section 07 and in Terms Section 12, up to permanent removal. Questions or suggestions are welcome at safety@theshapecommunity.com.
